About the Author

As the Author:
Mykela Scott is a writer, artist, and a self-proclaimed crazy cat lady who earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and Creative Writing (Southern New Hampshire University) after deciding veterinary science was not a “purrfect” fit. She decided (or rather her cat decided) to live in Maine, where there are plenty of birds to watch and quiet spaces to write. As the Crazy Cat Writer, Scott writes stories that explore the artistic nature of felines though a variety of narratives from romance to fantasy. Her writing encourages readers to find comfort and pleasure in novels that are sweet and witty.
She is aware of just “meow” much literary citizenship means to her community. This is why she is a part of the Sweet Briar College’s Editorial Board 2020-2021, Southern New Hampshire University’s MFA Writing Community, the Jane Austen Society of North American (JASNA), Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance, Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, Jane Austen Society of North America (JANSA) and the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). Understanding the complexities and nuances of these communities not only fosters her passion for reading, but for writing as well. This includes her various publications and readings in/at the Red Clay Literary Magazine, Amherst Read-To-Me Series, Enigma in Eragul, and the Fourth Annual Bangor Authors’ Book Fair and Literary Festival 2025.
Since writing is her “pawssion” (second to cats of course) she spends her time at local artisan fairs selling her studio artwork and novel Enigma in Eragul. In her extra spare time, you would of course find her reading, writing, drawing, and creating blanket nests to appease her diva-cat, Chelsea.
As the Illustrator:
Throughout time, cats have always been central to Mykela Scott’s work. In addition to illustrating the novel Enigma in Eragul, Scott’s artwork has been published in the magazine and website for the Red Clay Literary Magazine 2020. Additionally, she has also been exhibited in the 2018 High School Exhibition at the Peninsula Fine Art Center in Hampton, VA. Her work continues to be privately commissioned, and she sells cat themed art at Artisan Fairs.
Always a Crazy Cat Writer
